He is Present in Every Moment

God is present in the big moments in life – there is no doubt about that. But I have been seeing Him more in the small moments, too. It is so sweet to begin to notice Him in the in-between-moments and in the mundane. He is surely in every moment and every season. His faithfulness endures, and He desires to make Himself known to us. I saw where someone created a list of places where she sees God, and I thought I would do the same. I want to recognize His presence so I can draw closer, deeper. 

I see Him in the light in people’s eyes. He is in the deep laughs that occur in the presence of close friends. He is in the dancing and singing that happen when one is full of joy. He is in the cuddles from a sleepy baby. He is in the giant hugs and tight squeezes from loved ones. He is in bouquets of flowers given to another out of love. He is in the breeze on a sunny day. He is in the quiet raindrops that roll down the windows. He is in a love letter. He is in the smiles from strangers. He is in the sunrise and sunset. He is in the rolling waves crashing onto the sand at the beach. He is in the birds singing high in the mountains. He is in the cacti growing in the desert. He is in the wildflowers growing in lush pastures. He is in the random sweet texts from friends. He is in the person who sees the one who is alone. He is in the water after a long hike. He is in it all. 

I also see Him in the tears in people’s eyes. He is in the cry of one who has been hurt. He is in the anguish of the one who has been worried. He is in the one who has been disappointed. He is in the one who has lost a loved one. He is in the pain that comes with being let down by someone you love. He is in the crushing and the pressing. He is in the waves crashing into the rocks along the coastline. He is in the ferocious winds that tear through the night. He is in the routines of daily life. He is with us in the struggle to see good. He is in it all. 

He is with us in all things. He is beckoning us to come closer to Him. He is trying to woo our hearts. He wants us to seek Him in every moment, to look to Him in every instance. We can often see Him in the good moments in life. I got to hold a sweet baby today, and I was overwhelmed by the tender moment when she snuggled her head up against me.  

But He is also with us in the not-so-good parts of life. In the mundane moments, He is there. In the daily tasks, He is there. In the crushing pain of not getting the job or losing a loved one, He is there still. He is one who sticks closer than a brother. There is nowhere we could go from His presence. He loves us too much to leave us alone. He chooses us when we do not choose Him. He will fight for us; we just have to be still. 

He is in every moment because He is never apart from us. His heart is for us to look to Him in everything. So, as we are living life and feeling good, I hope we can be quick to say, “thank You Jesus” because we know that He is there. In the moments that are tough, painful, or just bad, I hope we can still say, “thank You Jesus”, because, even there, He is with us still. No matter where we go, He goes before us.
