Hello friends and family!

I have been wanting to write a blog for a while to update you on my upcoming trip, but it was not until a few days ago that I learned a few more details! 🙂 If you have been following along, you might be curious about what I am going to be doing. I am also curious haha! This is what I have heard:

On May 28, I am going to Gainesville, GA to training camp! In GA, I will meet my team (!!!), and I will learn more about the trip and how to serve those I will meet. I am so excited for this time of refinement before leaving everything I know!

On June 1 (I think), we will be flying to Jaco, Costa Rica! It is a beach town that, I believe, is a hot spot for tourists. We will be partnering with a ministry called Ocean’s Edge. We will be assisting the local church in a variety of ways such as children’s ministry, cleaning, babysitting, and more. We might also work with a pregnancy crisis center, work on a city-wide prayer initiative, art ministries, construction projects, hosting a surf club, or help with a business school program.

In July, we will be flying to Antigua, Guatemala – a city surrounded by volcanoes! The details surrounding Guatemala are still vague, but I am confident we will see God move nonetheless. He is ALWAYS moving.

July 30th, we will fly back to GA where we will stay in Atlanta for a day to debrief. On July 31st, I should be headed back to MO!

Of course, thanks to COVID, as well as the nature of mission trips, we have been told to hang onto details LOOSELY. We might do all of the things listed above, and we might do none. Ultimately, we are trusting God to lead and direct us! This is pretty much all I know right now, but I wanted to give you all an update since you have been kind enough to partner with me whether it has been financially or through prayer!

If you are partnering with me in prayer, I have created a list of things that I would greatly appreciate to be covered in prayer!

–       No nerves going into training camp!

–       The unity of my team and for strong relationships to be built between us.

–       The health of my team – no COVID, and health/safety when we are out of the country.

–       Wisdom.

–       To be in tune with the Father and for our hearts to be in a posture of listening and obedience.

–       Homesickness not to be too bad! I love my family and friends a lot 🙂

–       For the ministry we are partnering with.

–       For the people we will meet.

–       For the direction of the Holy Spirit in everything we do and every step we take.

–       Strength to surrender to the LORD.

Thank you thank you thank you so much for your prayers! They make such a difference! I cannot wait to see how God moves. <3

The next 10 days are going to be busy and exciting! I have been dreaming and praying about this for so long. For it to be SO CLOSE is pretty crazy! I am planning on spending a lot of time with my family these next few days! This is an exciting yet nerve-filled time, but I am confident that the LORD will not abandon me now. He has not brought me this far just to leave me on my own!

Thanks again! If you have any questions, or anything at all, feel free to email or text me. 🙂

  1. Makenzie…God knew you would be making this trip way before it was even a thought in your own mind and heart. Trust Him for a life-changing experience… both your life and the lives of those to who you will touch and minister. You will be in my prayers! Continue to listen to His voice and you cannot go wrong, cannot worry, cannot doubt, and cannot lose! Bless and be blessed, Makenzie!!

  2. Thank you so SO much! Your prayers and encouragement are appreciated more than you know!
